Ever wonder what America is all about.
Hi, my name is Alice McNutt and this thought was
recently brought to mind in a conversation with a neighborhood friend.
My idea at the time was to engage in a little friendly
dialogue, yet what ensued was more of a one way rant on how she just
couldn't get ahead.
She complained about her job, she complained about her
husband and her kids. She also grumbled about how she feels deprived
from, what she termed as the "good life."
With frustration she uttered a phrase I've head all to
often, "I guess, life just dealt me a bad hand."
I asked her, to really think - who dealt her this hand,
and why she feels she has to settle for the hand?
I continued, Who choose your career? Of course, she did.
Who choose your husband? She did.
Who decided to have three kids? She did.
Who decided that she is not enjoying "the good life" She did.
Thereafter, I informed her she is the DEALER!
As you can gather, saying what I believe is a bad habit of mine. So I
went on to utter what I know to be true, that in this country of
unlimited opportunity, unlike most of the world, "You put yourself were
you are!
Her problem is that she is just settling for her present
lot in life.
Bear in mind, we all have our ups and downs. Some of us
go through more downs than ups, but its all a matter of resolve.
You control your future. Your in the driver seat. But
yet everyone can come up with hundreds of reasons not to change, but not
a single excuse. Everyone can change their life, some just need to start
with training wheels, as they slowly begin to take back the control of
their future.
Stop settling! When things are not right, in America you have the power
to reshuffle the deck and deal again and again!
Up or down, this gal knows, you put yourself where you
are.
And, this brings me to the subject of this little book,
the wonder and ability to work at home. For when I first had the
opportunity, I dealt myself, and family a winning hand.
